Today is National Education Associations (NEA) Read Across America day. It is also the birthday of the amazingly awesome Dr. Seuss. I grew up reading Dr. Seuss books and always admired his ability to come up with nonsensical words and sweet rhymes.
NEA’s goal for today is to have children all across our country take time to celebrate reading! It is a wonderful goal and since I work in education it is one I participate in every year by reading one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, The Lorax, out loud to students. I am bringing this to your attention to encourage you to participate as well if possible. Since I run a book blog I am hoping my readers also share my love of reading and I urge you to spread that love to others today, especially to our youth. Dr. Seuss said it best when he said:
“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child.”
I hope many of you feel the same way and will participate in Read Across America as well. To learn more about it go to the NEA website and get great ideas and resources to participate. I will leave you with the trailer for The Lorax which comes out today and I cannot wait to see! Enjoy.
