Taking a Break…

I think the title says it all, but I am going to take a little break from the blog. In about three months I will have been blogging for three years. It is crazy how fast that time has gone, but I am starting to get burnt out. I love all the authors I have gotten to talk with and all of my fellow bloggers, but I am starting to look at my blog as an obligation rather than something I love, and I never wanted it to come to that. Instead of reading books that I know have a release date coming up, I find myself going to back-listed titles or something other than the books that I need to review. Telling me I have to review a book, pretty much guarantees that I will put it off as long as possible and that is what I have been doing. This same issue has also kept me from reading lately. I am looking at reading as a chore and I hate that! I absolutely love to read, but I am putting too much pressure on myself to get reviews out, so it has taken all the fun out of reading and blogging.

I also have a lot going on in my personal life right now and just feel like I need a mental break in general. So, that is what I am going to do. I am going to take off for a little while and regroup. I want to find the joy in reading again and if I keep up the pace I am at, that is not going to happen. I want to read a book because I want to, not because it is being released in five days and I have to get a review up. I know I am putting the pressure on myself, but honestly it should never have come to this. I love blogging about books, I love reading and I love meeting people with those same passions. So, I am going to take at least until the holidays are over off. I will probably be up an running again in January, so I won’t be gone that long. I might put up a couple of already scheduled posts here and there, but I won’t be on twitter that much or any other social media. I am going to spend time with family and find my love of reading again.

I want to thank everyone who reads my blog and I will see you soon!

Labor Day Giveaway: Incarnation by Emma Cornwall

Happy Labor Day everyone, well to all my US followers that is.  I hope those of you who have the day off are enjoying it, I know I loved the extra day to sleep in.  :)  In celebration of the extra day off I am going to have a contest.  I have an extra copy of Incarnation by Emma Cornwall up for grabs today.  Here is a summary of the book from Goodreads for you:

In the steampunk world of Victorian London, a beautiful vampire seeks out the author of Dracula–to set the record straight . . . If one is to believe Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire tale, Lucy Weston is Dracula’s most wanton creation, a sexual creature of the night who preys on innocent boys. But the real-life Lucy is nothing like her fictional counterpart—and she demands to know why the Victorian author deliberately lied. With Stoker’s reluctant help, she’s determined to track down the very fiend who transformed her—from the sensual underworld where humans vie to become vampires, to a hidden cell beneath a temple to madness, and finally into the glittering Crystal Palace where death reigns supreme.

Haunted by fragmentary memories of her lost life and love, Lucy must battle her thirst for blood as she struggles to stop a catastrophic war that will doom vampires and humans alike. Ultimately, she must make a choice that illuminates for her—and for us—what it means to be human

Sounds pretty good right?  Want your own copy?  I have a couple of rules to go over first.  The contest is open to US and Canadian residents only.  The contest will run from now until midnight on Sunday, September 16th, 2012.  Want an extra entry? I will give you a bonus point if you tweet or link to this contest (Twitter, sidebar, facebook, etc.) and be sure to put the link in the form. Only one extra entry per person.  I will use random.org to choose a winner.  Go ahead and fill out the form below to be entered.  Good luck!

This contest is now closed.

Don’t You Think This Could Be an Awesome Book?

My hubby introduced me to this band a couple of weeks ago and ever since I cannot get this song out of my head! The band is Of Monsters and Men and the song is called Little Talks. I loved the song, but then he showed me the video and I was amazed. I just love the concept behind this video and feel like it could be turned into some awesome fantasy novel. I am telling all of you so you can go and get it stuck in your heads now too. Muahahaha *evil grin slowly spreads across face*

So what do you think of the video? Let me know in the comments!
