Dewey’s Read-a-Thon 2010

As I have said in previous posts I am on Spring Break right now, so I have some free time this weekend and I decided to participate in the Dewey’s Read-a-Thon 2010!  I am not sure if I am going to be able to stay up for 24 hours, but I will try to stay up as long as I can.  I have picked a wide variety of books to read so I don’t lose attention, because if I am not in the mood to read a book I will put it down immediately.  One of my friend’s (who only read vampire books, she will not branch out no matter what I try) dropped off all of the House of Night, The Immortals and the Evernight series books to me the other day.  I have not read any of these yet because they all have extreme mixed reviews and I have been hesitant, but I figured now is a good time to try and see how I like them because they are light, not really heavy thinking books and they are all relatively short.  I have some other books on hand in case any of these don’t pan out.  I am going to try and update my status every 3 hours or when I just need a break from reading.  I am looking forward to trying this to see how it goes, check back to see how I do 🙂

  1. I enjoyed The first two books of The Immortals and hated House of Night (read 4 of them before getting really pissed off at them).

    Happy Reading on Saturday! 🙂

  2. I have the hardest time with vampire books because they all start to be the same to me. However – I will say that my heart belongs to Sookie Stackhouse series. Honestly some of the funniest books I have ever read. Too bad you don’t have those on hand or hopefully you’ve already read them. But that’s it for me – I’m a 1 vampire series kinda girl. Have fun!

    • I have a friend who swears by the Sookie Stackhouse books, I think I am going to have to give those a try soon because she is starting to wear me down, I am glad to know it is not just her that likes them so maybe those will be next on my list 🙂

  3. I’ll be reading tomorrow, too! I’ve got 5 YA, 1 bio and 1 classic in my stack. Swing by my blog if you like and good luck!

  4. I’m one of your cheerleaders and wanted to wish you good luck! I’ll be reading next time, but may sneak in a few hours of reading this time, for solidarity’s sake, ha ha.
My students love The House of Night books, but I just can’t get into them.

    • Yay for a cheerleader! Thank you! I am worried about House of Night too, but I guess you never really know until you try so they are on my list for later today, we will see how it goes.

  5. I’ve been wanting to read those books but have been unsure, too! Hope they keep you interested and you can get a lot read today!
