Waiting on Wednesday

Since I went to BEA last week and then Monday was a holiday I think my days are a little off, it is Wednesday right?  Ok, checked the calender, it is Wednesday (phew).   So, time for another Waiting on Wednesday hosted at Breaking the Spine.  My book this week is called Nevermore by Kelly Creagh, here is a summary from Goodreads:

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.

Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.

As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.

His life depends on it.

Being a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe myself, I am really intrigued with that famous writer’s tie into this book.  I also think it is a new spin on boy meets girl in the YA world.  I am really excited to read this book plus the authors website is really fun to look at.  Click on her name above and it will take you there.  What are you excited about reading soon?

  3. It kinda remind me of “The Hollow” by Jessica Verday where “The Legend of The Sleepy Hollow” was tied into the story. I’ll be interesting to see how big a role Edgar Allen’s stories play in this book.
