Audiobook Week Meme

After scrolling through my Google reader this morning I came across quite a few people who are participating in Audiobook Week over at Devourer of Books and I decided that I want to participate.  As I have mentioned I am moving, so audiobooks have been my world recently so this is a perfect thing for me to talk about right now.  Today’s meme is a quick little question and answer session so here goes…

Audiobook are you currently reading/you read most recently: Frostbite by Richelle Mead

Impressions?: I really like it, just finished it up yesterday so I will talk more about it later this week!

How long you’ve been listening to audiobooks: I have been listening to audiobooks my whole life, my parents used to love to take road trips.  This was before they had t.v.’s in cars and all those fancy things so entertainment was scarce.  My brother and I were avid readers even when we were little so we would all pick out a couple of books and get them on tape (yeah, this was also before CD’s and MP3′s wow I feel old).  Anyways, that is how my family spent our road trips, listening to books on tape.

First audiobook you ever listened to: The Princess Bride by William Goldman!!  It was amazing!  I remember everyone in my family loved it.  There was something in there for all of us and the reader was fantastic.  “Hello.  My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”  Still to this day one of my favorite quotes.  If you have not read this book you need to!!!

Favorite audiobook title: Not to be boring, but I have not listened to anything that has topped The Princess Bride so I am going to have to go with that still.

Favorite narrator: I am not sure if I have a favorite, I really liked Rob Reiner, who did Princess Bride of course, but the two people who read for The Time Traveler’s Wife, William Hope and Laurel Lefkow were really good as well.

How do you choose what to listen to versus read? If I have time to read the book I will just read it, but if I am traveling a lot or I am really busy I will listen to it in audiobook format.  For me, it makes car rides go so much faster and they are much more enjoyable.

  1. Don’t let tapes make you feel old! I’m in my 20s and when I was young it was all tapes all the time, too. I can remember when my first friend’s family got a CD player.

    • Thanks that makes me feel better, I am in my 20′s too, but sometimes I feel older. I can remember my first CD player too…it was $100.00 and whenever I walked with it the sounds would skip. I loved it!

  2. The Princess Bride is a family favorite as well! Years later and we are still quoting it. When I did not want to answer my kids I would say “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.” That was their clue to quit asking! LOL

  3. We love The Princess Bride movie – but have never read the book. Here’s my meme.

  4. My co-worker was trying to convince me for the longest time into audiobooks and I refused on principle. Now I listened to 2 in a row and Im hooked, darn it! lol
