After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It’s graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives outside of the Academy’s cold iron gates to finally begin. But even with the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri. He’s out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won’t join him, he won’t rest until he’s silenced her…forever.

But Rose can’t forget what she learned on her journey—whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose’s prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide what—and who—matters most to her. In the end, is true love really worth the price?

Summary from Goodreads.com

My Review: This is the fifth book in this series, and the amount of trouble Rose manages to get herself into never fails to surprise me.  What is surprising to me though, is how I am 100% team Adrian now, I know, I know, stop throwing things at me.  I can’t help it, I have just really fallen for that guy.  He just loves Rose so much, and I am not sure what he would do without her.  I am fearful that I am cheering for a losing team, but I guess only the last book will reveal that to me.  I do like Dimitri, but right now I just like Adrian more.

In Spirit Bound, Rose is off to find the “cure” to change strigoi back to their old selves.  She meets a lot of opposition along the way and even hits a few snags that are going to cost her big time.  I don’t think the long term effects of these decisions have really sunk in yet, but I have no doubt that we will be seeing them in the future.  I was a surprised by some of the plot twists towards the end of the story, especially when it came to Rose.  The magnitude of the situation she faces now is almost insurmountable, but knowing our girl Rose, I am sure there is a way out of even this mess.

I did enjoy this book, the first one is still my favorite, but I think this would be next on the list.  This story was in constant motion, and there was rarely a dull moment, which is what I loved about it.  There are still many questions left that need answering and I am not sure how Richelle is going to wrap it all up, but I am sure she has it all figured out and it will be amazing when it all comes together in the end.   If you have enjoyed the rest of the books in this series this one will not disappoint!
