I have not been to an author event for a while, so when I found out Jennifer Murgia was going to have her release party within driving distance of me I was really excited. I asked Susan from Wastepaper Prose to come with me and the trip was set! The last time the two of us went to see Jennifer we ended up getting lost, so we left extra early for the event in hopes of having plenty of time to get there. We were wrong. We left at 10:00am on a Saturday morning and still just sat in traffic f-o-r-e-v-e-r! It took us four hours to make what should have been about a two hour trip. Luckily Susan and I had plenty to talk about so we kept ourselves entertained, *cough, quoting Monty Python and Fired Up, cough* but being stuck in traffic is never fun. Ever.
Once we arrived at the event though, things picked up. We got to hang out with Jennifer and even met some new people and talked books. Jennifer did a reading from Lemniscate and had a questions and answer session with everyone there. We learned that sadly, this will be the last book in the series for now, but Jennifer said she may one day return to this world. I will just keep my fingers crossed that she will!
I love getting a chance to go to these events and meet the authors of the books I love. It is nice to get to know the person behind the work and learn more about how they form the worlds I love so much. Jennifer is a wonderful author and person, if you ever get a chance to go see her I highly recommend you do. If you have not read her books you need to do that as well, they are a wonderful addition to the young adult world.
Now onto the contest. I am giving away a signed copy of both Angel Star (review here) and Lemniscate (review here)! Both of the books were fantastic and if you win you will have the whole series 🙂 Couple of rules to go over. The contest is open internationally. Contest is going to run from now until midnight on Sunday, April 17th, 2011. Want an extra entry? I will give you a bonus point if you tweet or link to this contest (Twitter, sidebar, facebook, etc.) and be sure to put the link in the form. Only one extra entry per person. I will use random.org to choose a winner. Wordpress does not like my Google Form so much so you will have to click the link below to fill out the form. Thank you and good Luck to everyone!
Contest is now closed.
