Next week we are going to say goodbye to the end of an era. The last Harry Potter Movie will be in theaters and I will be one of the first people in line to see it. I remember when the first book came out in 1998, I was a junior in high school and my mom told me she heard good things about the book. I was (and still am) an avid reader so I decided to give it a shot. I fell in love with the world immediately and waited anxiously for each installment to be released. I had no idea these books would become what they are today because in 1998 it was long before the days these books became a worldwide phenomena. But I knew I would be a fan for life no matter what.
My family and I actually took a trip to Europe in the year 2000, when Goblet of Fire was released, and had to buy a UK edition along with our US edition because my brother and I were arguing over who got to read the book first. Part of our trip included a couple days in London, we saw Big Ben, we saw Buckingham Palace and we also visited Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross and squealed a little with excitement!
I know following Harry through these books and movies will always stay with me and I hope others out there have loved this series as much as I have. To go along with my trip down memory lane I wanted to share some speeches that were made at the premiere across the pond. I put them in the order they were given, they are not long and I hope you enjoy them.
First up is Daniel Radcliffe:
I don’t know if I will ever be able to see him as anything other than Harry Potter, hehe. Okay next up is Emma Watson:
She is so sweet, poor girl could not stay composed. Not that I can blame her, must be very a emotional day. Next up is Rupert Grint:
I love him, he has been the perfect Ron! Alright, last up is J.K. Rowling. The woman who started it all. I always secretly hope she will write an encyclopdeia for us, but I will have to wait out and see what she does next. Whatever she decides to write, I know I will be reading it.
Harry Potter, I will miss you! I know I will be re-reading and re-watching these books and movies for years to come and always enjoy visiting Hogwarts.
OMG I almost got teary eyed. This came at a really interesting time. I am about to write the very end of the novel I have worked the hardest on in my life so far and couldn’t find the inspiration to dig my heals in a do it because I never want it to end (even if there are sequels) but now I know I can do it. Thank you for posting this!
I got teary eyed when Jo spoke, I couldn’t help it. Thank you for sharing your reaction to it, I am so glad I could help you with your novel! It must be very bittersweet to finish one since you spend so much time and effort working on them! I hope you can push through and write the ending, good luck!
