My Review: Ok, so I know this is an old book, but it was recommended to me by another bookseller because they saw me reading the Rachel Vincent Shifters series and thought I would like it. After reading the book, I can definitely see the connection and at the beginning of the book I was drawn in and could not put the book down. I loved all the characters, especially the relationship between Elena and Clay, it was funny to watch them interact and just scream at each other and then later be so happy just being together. I also thought Jeremy was a great calming influence in their lives and he was the character that kept everything and everyone in check. I really liked the suspense of the book, I had to know what was going to happen with all the mutts hanging around and I couldn’t understand how they were always one step ahead of the pack. At some points during the book it just seemed like there was going to be no upside, I was determined to keep going until I hopefully found that I was wrong. Kelley did a great job of just giving me enough information to keep me going, but not enough that I had it all figured out.
I loved the book right until about the last 10 pages, I felt like everything was wrapped up just a little too quickly and I was left with just a feeling of blah. I know there are plenty of more books in the series and I would like to see what happens with Elena and Clay, but I don’t want to run out and get the next book right now and that usually happens with me when I am excited about something. So overall, it is a good book, but I think I might pick up a couple of books in between before I get to the next book in this series.
This series really picked up for me at the third book and since then Kelley Armstrong has become one of my favourite authors.
Thanks for letting me know, after I read my book club book I will go back to it and hope that it does pick up. That is what I was concerned about but knowing someone else read it and thinks it does definitely helps!
