Goodreads Synopsis: Being the first female were-cat enforcer isn’t easy. Scars accumulate, but I’m stronger in so many ways.
As for my personal life? It’s complicated. Choices worth making always are. Ever since my brother’s death and my father’s impeachment, it’s all I can do to prevent more blood from spilling. Now our Pride is under attack by a flight of vicious thunderbirds. And making peace with our new enemies may be the only way to get the best of our old foe.
With the body count rising and treachery everywhere, my instincts tell me to look before I leap. But sometimes a leap of faith is the only real option…
My Review: I loved this book! I am only sad that I have to wait 7 months for Alpha to come out :( I also liked that we were introduced to a new species, the Thunderbird’s, they were unlike anything I have read about so I found them particularly intriguing. Their shifting ability is also really neat, they are so fast! I bet Faythe wishes she could shift that quickly. Anyways, in this story Kaci has been taken by the Thunderbird’s and Faythe finds herself trying to rescue her.
I am going to vent about the Faythe/Jace/Marc puzzle for a minute and for the record I am totally team Marc. Marc has nowhere else to go literally, no other pride is going to take in a stray, especially Marc, but I fell like Jace still have has options if Faythe does not choose him. And, Marc has always been there believing in Faythe and Jace has grown up over night and just realized he wants to fight for Faythe, I don’t know, I just don’t feel the connection with them as much as I do with Faythe and Marc. I also hope that in Alpha none of those three die because I feel like that would be too easy of an ending. I really want her to choose and all parties to make it out alive.
Ok, I am done with that now, I did like this book because it had a lot suspense and it kept me reading so fast I think I need to go back and re-read just so I pick up all the details I missed. I have to say I did think it was really clever have Jace, Marc and Faythe have to spend the whole book together I was just laughing at the tension it created for the book which made me just want to turn the page more to see what mess the three of them were going to get into next. Oh and Calvin Malone, yeah I still hate that guy, I hope he gets what is coming to him soon, in Shift he has stooped to a whole new level of low! Anyways, if you are a fan of this series then read Shift, it does not disappoint and watching Faythe continue to grow is just fascinating. Seriously, is it October yet?
